Wondering how
we got started?? Joe Jacobs and Thomas Kerber were in 8th grade choir together. They both enjoyed singing and were serious
about choir. They both auditioned for the Minnesota Jr. High Honors Choir and were thrilled to be picked as 2 of the
Kenwood Trail Jr. High students for the choir. This sparked the idea to broaden their singing in other
areas. Joe and Thomas began getting together on occasion and discussing possible opportunities for their singing talents.
They became more and more excited about the possibility of starting a quartet. They realized they needed to find some
others who would be as dedicated and hard working as they were. They also knew that they needed some guidance from
music teachers. The search was on! Their enthusiasm in this venture began to spread. Thomas and Joe knew that
they both filled the positions as Bass and Tenor 1 so now the search was for a Baritone and Tenor 2. We quickly realized that
Jon MnNealis was a very talented Tenor 2, and we decided to give him a shot at the part and it worked very well. It was'nt
just a perfect fit for the pitch of his voice but also by the way that the three of them got a long. It was now a very difficult
search for a Baritone. Time began to wear on and we were starting to think about creating a Trio and not a Quartet. We brought
this idea to our Choir teachers at school, they thought the idea was a bad choice considering we are young and it would
be to much of a struggle as far as maintaining pitch for each of our parts. As time progressed we thought of who would be
a good person to fill the one spot that was so important to us. It was'nt long then till we discovered that our Baritone
was with us all along, Connor Murphy. He sings with us in the school choir. Once we had accepted him into the
quartet we began working on our very first song, Silhouettes. We are now the 4-Teens. Recently we have added to our song
list, O mister moon, which is a barbershop peice and thats goin great. We got to sing for fourshadow and they
loved it and it was sweet.
